Kearny lies between two rivers: the Passaic on the west and the Hackensack on the east, with the Meadowlands covering much of the eastern side. Most people live in the western part, on a grid of streets around Kearny Avenue, the main shopping street. Few have elevators, and many have a porch, a stoop or a side door that decides how furniture comes out.

How the truck gets to Kearny
