Pack it all, or only the hard parts
Packing takes longer than most people expect, and poor packing is a common cause of damage: a box that is too heavy, a glass with no wrap, a frame with no corner protection. You choose how much we do.
- Full packing. We pack the whole home, room by room, and mark each box with its room.
- Partial packing. You pack the easy things; we pack the kitchen, glassware, art, mirrors, lamps and electronics.
- Materials delivered. We bring boxes and packing materials to your door if you want to pack yourself.
- Unpacking. At the new place we unpack and put things where you want them.
- Crating. Marble tops, glass tables, large mirrors and art that needs more than a box get a crate.
- Inventory. On request, a written list of what we packed and loaded.
How we pack what matters
Plates are wrapped one by one and stand on edge in the box, with padding above and below. Glasses go into divided boxes. Lamps travel without shades, and the shades get their own box. Mirrors and framed art get corner protection and padding, or a crate if they are large. A TV travels in a proper box or in thick padding with the screen covered. Books go into small boxes, so no box gets too heavy to carry safely.
Every box is taped, marked with its room and stacked heavy side down. That is how the crew unloads faster and you find the kettle on the first night.
If you pack yourself
- Start with the rooms you use least: the guest room, storage closets, books.
- Put heavy things in small boxes and light things in large ones.
- Fill the empty space in each box with paper or towels, so nothing shifts.
- Tape the bottom of every box twice.
- Leave the kitchen for the last two days, and pack one box of basics to open first.
Leave the hard items to us if you like: we can pack only the fragile things and the kitchen while you do the rest.
What to keep with you
Some things should never ride on any moving truck. Keep documents, passports, cash, jewelry, medicine, laptops and anything you cannot replace with you. Hazardous items, such as paint thinner, propane tanks, gasoline and strong cleaning chemicals, should not go on a moving truck at all. Use them up or dispose of them safely before the move. Packing for a building move
In a high-rise, packing decides how the elevator time goes. Most buildings give you a fixed window, so boxes should be closed and stacked before the crew starts loading. For a large home, ask about packing the day before, so move day is loading only. Read more about high-rise moves. Can you pack only the kitchen?
Yes. Partial packing covers whatever you choose: the kitchen, the fragile items, or one room.
Can you drop off boxes so I can pack myself?
Yes. We deliver boxes and packing materials to your door before the move.
Do you unpack too?
Yes. At the new place we unpack and put things where you want them.
Should I pack my own valuables?
Keep them with you. Documents, jewelry, cash, medicine and laptops should travel with you, not on the truck.
