What a local move with us includes
A local move is a truck and a crew for your date, and everything it takes to get your home from one door to the other in good shape. On every local move we:
- wrap furniture in moving pads to protect wood, glass and fabric on the way;
- take apart beds, tables and other pieces that will not fit through a door, and put them back together;
- load, drive and unload into the rooms you choose;
- protect floors, door frames and elevators where the building asks for it;
- work weekends and holidays at no extra cost.

Local, or interstate?
Distance does not decide it. A move from Hoboken to Jersey City, or from Fort Lee to Englewood, stays inside New Jersey, and we do it under our New Jersey public mover license, NJPM 000930. Moves inside New York State run under NYSDOT 34875. A move from Weehawken to Midtown is one tunnel away and crosses a state line, but federal rules treat New York City and the nearby New Jersey towns as one commercial zone. A move to a state beyond that zone runs under our federal authority, MC-432549.

How move day goes
- The crew and truck head out from Brooklyn for the start time we set with you, with the drive planned around bridge and tunnel traffic.
- The crew walks through the home with you: what goes, what stays, what is fragile.
- Furniture gets wrapped, beds and tables come apart, and the path gets protected if the building asks.
- Loading, the drive, and unloading into the right rooms.
- Beds and tables go back together, and you pay by cash or Zelle.
How to get ready
- Ask both buildings about move hours, the elevator and a COI. Our high-rise moving page explains each one.
- Tell us where a truck can stop near each door. If the closest spot is far from the entrance, we plan for the long carry in the price.
- Pack one bag with documents, medicine, keys, chargers and valuables, and keep it with you.
- Empty drawers of anything loose, heavy or breakable.
- Label boxes by room, so the crew puts them in the right place the first time.
Priced by the hour
Local moves are priced by the hour. You get a free written estimate, and the hourly rate and terms are in writing before moving day. The total follows the actual hours, so we tell you our estimate of the hours up front. See how our prices work.
When to book
Book as soon as you know your date. The last days of the month and summer weekends are busy for movers and for building elevators alike, so those dates fill first. Ask your building for its open days before you lock in the lease date if you can. If your move is days away, not weeks, call anyway: we move on short notice when a crew is free.
Questions about local moves
How long does a local move take?
It depends on how much you have, the stairs and elevators at both ends, and the distance. We estimate the time when we build your written price, so you know the plan before moving day.
Do you move on weekends and holidays?
Yes, at no extra cost.
Will you take apart my bed and put it back together?
Yes. Taking apart and putting back beds, tables and similar furniture is part of the job. Tell us about large pieces, like a sectional or a wall unit, so the crew brings the right tools.
Can I get a price without a home visit?
Yes. We give estimates by video or in person, seven days a week, day or evening.
Do I need to be there on moving day?
You, or someone you trust, should be at both ends: to show the crew what goes where and to sign the paperwork.
