A town of houses
Leonia sits near the western approach to the George Washington Bridge, between Fort Lee, Englewood, Teaneck and Palisades Park. Unlike its tower-lined neighbor to the east, it is mostly houses. About three in five homes are detached single-family houses, and about four in ten were built before 1940.
An older house moves differently from an apartment. It holds more: a basement, an attic, a garage, sometimes a piano. Front steps and a porch often come before the truck.
Hills and main roads
The land rises from the low west side, by Overpeck County Park, to the high east side at the Fort Lee line. On the steeper blocks, we choose where the truck stands and how to carry heavy pieces. Grand Avenue and Broad Avenue run north to south, and Fort Lee Road crosses both. Interstate 95 curves along the north edge of town, so the bridge is close.
A house move, step by step
- A free visit or video call for the estimate, any day, day or evening. Show us the basement and attic too.
- Your written estimate, showing the hourly rate and terms.
- Packing if you want it: the whole house, only the kitchen, or boxes delivered for you to fill.
- Moving day: the crew takes apart large furniture and loads room by room.
- At the new home, we rebuild the furniture and put boxes in the rooms you name.
How pricing works: the price is hourly. Along with your free written estimate, you get the rate and terms on paper before moving day. The total tracks the hours actually worked. Anything added, like more items or packing, is confirmed in writing first.
