Hoboken to Manhattan is a short crossing with one difference that shapes everything: the Manhattan building usually controls your date. Many co-ops, condos and rental buildings in the city want a move-in approved before a mover can enter. Settle that first, and the rest of the plan follows.

The Holland Tunnel entrance sits just south of Hoboken in Jersey City, and the Lincoln Tunnel just north in Weehawken. Traffic at both changes by the hour, so we choose for your date and your building’s window.
The Manhattan building comes first
- Ask the new building for its move-in package: allowed days and hours, the elevator, the service entrance and any forms.
- Buying a co-op or condo? Let the board approve you before you choose a date.
- Get the exact COI wording and send it to us. We issue the Certificate of Insurance (COI) and send it with your contract, or straight to management if you ask.
- Reserve the service elevator, then send us the date and the window.
- Let the doorman or super know the truck is coming.

The Hoboken end
If you are leaving a walk-up, the stairs set the pace. Tell us the floor and the number of flights, and measure anything that was hard to bring in. If you are leaving a waterfront elevator building, it has its own move-out rules and may want a COI too. Fitting into a smaller place
